47%? Man, Please!

"There are 47 percent of the people who will vote for the president no matter what. All right, there are 47 percent who are with him, who are dependent upon government, who believe that they are victims, who believe the government has a responsibility to care for them, who believe that they are entitled to health care, to food, to housing, to you-name-it. That that's an entitlement. And the government should give it to them. And they will vote for this president no matter what." -Presidential Candidate, Mitt Romney

So, people are mad about this quote? Why should I be surprised? The self-righteous people have cried foul and released their gifs upon the social media sites. Here comes the good old Doc to hold up this mirror to remind us all that we have scars that we're trying to hide through our finger pointing and whining.

On one hand, he is right, regardless of the source of his statistic. When I take the full context of the quote, there are some emotionally charged incorrect statements especially when I consider the setting. I have to say that I was moved by some of  the points he covered during the leaked video. I wasn't actually astounded by any of it though. The Republican agenda is made known all over the news networks and in any facebook debate; there's surely no secret there. I'll take a stab at this one nonetheless.

No Matter What

Coke and Pepsi are competing to be named the official cola of the US. While there are other brands in the running, it is clear that the choice will be one of the two. Coke's platform is that it is classic and has tradition in the country. Pepsi contends that its opponent lacks the potential to change to meet the diverse demands of the nation as their company is innovative. Before any of that was mentioned, a good many people have already made your choice. It's up to the two brands to persuade the indifferent and non-cola drinkers to make a choice.

The same can be said for any election. There are people that are going to vote for a candidate merely on the fact that one looks like them. Some will vote strictly on party lines regardless of issues and will not be shaken. Many more have made a decision long before election day. The small indifferent population are the ones that debates, commercials, and political rallies are addressing.

I'm Not In The 47

I've been paying taxes for quite some time now. I don't feel like the government owes me anything. I'm only a victim in the case of being hoodwinked into thinking that I can be anything that I want to be. Entitlement? I'm entitled to be respected as a human being, a citizen of this country. I'm entitled to be paid a fair wage and evaluated based on my performance on the job and not by how I look. Add all these up, and you will see that I am not part of any one of Mr. Romney's 47%. I'm amazed how he generalized the fuck out of a group of people, but that's here nor there.

Now if you're offended because you've already made your decision for the coming election, ask yourself if any of those labels describe you. Get yourself out of a box; don't allow people to sum you up with a few catchy adjectives. Then again, it's your life; it's not my place to tell you not to get up in arms every time some one calls you a freeloader, hoodlum, bum, nigger, bitch, nigger-bitch, or any other term that does not fit your feet. Just know that I wear big shoes.

Entitlement Both Ways

Entitled? Hell yea, I feel entitled. Only in the ways that I mentioned above. Conservatives act as if they don't live an entitled lifestyle. Their main argument against any kind of government mandate is that it can be likened to socialism. A socialist society infringes on their entitlement to be free to enjoy the fruits of their labors, or labors of others who paved the foundation for their families. If each person was only able to earn his or her own way through life and could not pass wealth along to another upon death, I'm sure we see who would be acting entitled.

Additionally

For the social activist out there: you want to attack Romney and the Republicans for not being concerned with this "47%" as if you are concerned with them. First off, I am not taking the "holier-than-thou" stance. I do know that very few people give two shits about the poor, elderly, and sick. Don't believe me? Black Friday is only a few days after the election, and a good bit of you will convert to capitalistic assholes, line up at local retailers, pile up tons of shit you don't really need, and complain about coupons among other things. Because of this fuck shit, retailers are opening earlier and earlier to take your money while providing limited supplies of the shit that you seek. On the other hand, homeless shelters and other venues set aside to help the weak in our society will have no lines of assholes pushing to help others.

The United Way called and asked for a generous donation of $5 a paycheck to help their agencies. Fuck no? Oh that's too much? But it's far less than your hourly wage. Oh fuck me too?

Live your life, judge everyone with your bitch ass.

Good day everyone!
