A Little Motivation

Think back to your high school graduation.... Do you remember all the dreams you had? Do you remember how accomplished you felt? I do. There were so many people that congratulated me and wished me luck in my future endeavors. With a high school diploma, the sky was the limit. I had achieved the great dream in this country. We were given a rite of passage as soon as we ventured across that field like those before us. For me, the date was May 21, 1999. Excitement was at an all time high; little did I know that I was about to be awaken from the dream with a serious kick.

Boot camp, numerous jobs, semesters of college that included ample amounts of exams, and an all expenses paid trip to the Fertile Crescent have come and gone since that lovely day. I don't know if it's through my own apathy for life or the lack of timing in my own decisions, but I don't feel that I've left the mark on this world that I dreamed back on that football field in the small Mississippi town of Quitman.

My ray of light comes in the form of the friendships that have been forged. Through the real life loss of a close friend and recently a dream of losing a close family member, I have been motivated to reach out to those long lost friends. The show really must go on especially since we are not the center of the universe. Because that doesn't exist.
