There are some subjects and issues that I was sure would die or at least simmer down with age. The love of the idea of being in love seemed to be a plague during my early to mid-twenties. This is a far cry from being in love,yet years later, I've seen that it still exists within my social circles. I find it more funny than anything else.
It's understandable to set standards and seek quality companionship. There's no fault in looking for that special someone to share your time and experiences. The utmost respect is given to those that foster and develop a loving relationship.
The topic at hand is the love of the idea of being in love. This can be characterized by the admiration of feeling the emotion. Love is a crazy feeling; loving that crazy feeling can be even crazier. People who do this tend to stick around in dead or dying relationships just because they can't fathom living without the potential to be loved. They may give and give with no regard to reciprocity then make excuses to continue to disregard that fact.
There are people who are not committed that live this life. I've seen people plan futures for a non-existent mate & themselves less the consideration for a mate-to-be may desire once the time presents itself. I have discussed this with some that I deem aggressive who are envious of people in healthy relationships. They don't want to hear the advice of patience among other things being the key to finding love. Much less do they heed the advice that some people never find a companion.
I digress; even at a young age, I was amazed at the fact that some individuals pursue an emotion over fact and understanding. It as if they have a void, but miss the whole point that people are not mated up at birth. We enter the world alone and there is nothing wrong with dying that way.
