Hail Fuckin' State

Dear MState Fan,

Aside from the fact that MSU closed out the season 1 - 5 after going 7 - 0, I have a little something else to open your eyes to the bush league called the SEC. Did you ever think about the fact that it was beneficial to your school's athletic program to lose to your rivals up in Oxford? Not saying that the team laid down for the Hotty Toddy's, but allowing Ole Miss to look impressive enough to get a bowl bid is not out of the question.

There's no conspiracy; there are facts. $20.1M. That's how much each school received for 2011 - 2012 revenue generated by the conference. The Southeastern conference generated $241M last year, and please believe that the goal was to increase that this year with two new programs. A part of that payday comes from school bowl participation. Simply put, the more schools that go bowling, the more money that comes back to the school. The University of Mississippi became the 9th bowl eligible team in the conference with the Egg Bowl, bragging rights sealing win after a 3-game losing streak.

Allow me to be a hater for a second:

Every bowl-bound SEC team played it safe with the non-conference scheduling as always. There were the normal in-state rivalries to close the season and Texas at Mississippi; beyond that, there was nothing exciting about Florida going back to back with ULL and Jacksonville State and S. Alabama vs. MsState. The list goes on. Soft scheduling is the strength of SEC football. But why when the ultimate goal is to go bowling to get more money?

I ask you MState fans, how much is your loyalty to your school worth? I think their loyalty to you is worth a little more than $20.1M

(2011 - 12 SEC Revenue Distribution).
